I've got this plan to complete and it's just about ready for finish. Now, a couple of things I wanna do here. One is backtrack and talk a little bit about the building process, because this is gonna live outside and it's a planter, wanna make sure that I've got a glue on here that's water resistant. So I don't have to worry about this thing standing up through the test of time. So first as glue selection, make sure your water resistant for that. The other thing as I sneak up on the finishing process is as a woodworker, I'm sure you're aware, If you have glue residue anywhere on a project and you apply finish, finish won't stick to that glue residue, you're gonna have these little ghosts of spots where you don't have any finish. So a lot of times you stand here and you give it the once over. And you're pretty confident that you've got the thing clean until you brush that finish on and you find out you've got some spots. It's another reference back to the glue I've used for this. This is pretty cool stuff. Somebody spent some time in the chemistry lab, figured this out. This glue shows up under black light. So even though when I stand here and look at the project and it can be really, really difficult to see glue residue, when we do our next step, which is to kill the lights and turn on a black light, that glue residue is gonna really pop and you'll be able to see where you have problems. So we're gonna do that for you. Get these studio lights shut off and show you just what this looks like under black light. Well, here's where the chemistry comes into play. Given this thing a once over, not a big glue line visible, but when I bring out a black light, black lights have this frequency of light that they emit that we don't get from regular room lights. And when I shine that down, the joint here where my corner meets the box itself, we can see that there's a glow that comes out. That glow is a little bit of glue residue that snuck out under the corner. And now it's eked out there onto those boards. So clearly needs to be cleaned up before I start the finishing process. So products like this fluorescent glue are a great thing to know about as a woodworker, add a little bit of chemistry to your shop and help you make sure that your project is completely glue-free before you put your finish on. .
