Forstner bits provide a lot of advantages. The holes they create have perfectly flat bottoms. You can drill overlapping holes with a Forstner bit, which makes them a go-to choice for mortises. And, with a good set of Forstner bits the cut quality is incredible, even in end grain.
Bora’s Tempest Forstner Bit set has a lot going for it. The cutting edges are CNC ground for precision and include a small center point that makes it easy to locate the bit on your work. The bits are forged and, according to Bora, will stay sharp longer than carbon steel bits.
The bits eject shavings like crazy, which is great for keeping the cutting tool cool. Face grain or end grain, drill press or hand-held drill, these bits work really well.
