I'm really glad to have you in this class. And here's where I wanna take you with this. I want give you a good handle on cabinet making, because once you get the hang of this, it opens the door to so many different aspects of woodworking. For instance, if you know how to do this, simple cabinet, it's gonna open up the door to do bookcases, vanities, kitchen cabinets, shop cabinets. The manner in which they're built is really the same from piece to piece.

Here's what I want you to do. I'd like you to watch the entire class, start to finish, before you cut the first stick of wood. Now, while you're doing that, I recommend that you have the accompanying paperwork in your hand, so you can follow along there, get a really good idea in your head of the direction that we're going with this class. After you've watched it through once, then go back, and section by section, start to do the tasks with me to get the hang of 'em, do the practice so that you can make this cabinet as you go. Now, we're working on a project, but I always say when I teach, it's very important to understand, we are process oriented, not project oriented.

So, what that means here is that, this is all about you mastering the processes it takes to put this together. Might there be a mistake or two along the way? You bet. Great application for this cabinet when you're done, put it in your shop, put router bits or drill bits or something in it. That way, if it's got a wart or two, it's not such a big deal.

And again, it's all about the learning process more so than being about the finished project. So as I said, watch the whole class, start to finish, have the companion material with you as you do it, that'll give you a good feel for where we're going and how we're getting there. Then you'll be ready to start cutting wood, and building one of these in your own shop.
